The source
could be found near Gorze (left in the picture). The red line is the part
underground, the green line the part above ground. This was
a bridge with a length of 1.1 km with about 110
arches! The highest arch was approx. 32 m high. The aqueduct was 22 km long; the part
underground was built in two sections. From Gorze to Ars
it was 12,7 km long and from Jouy to
Castellum Divisorium it
was 8,5 km long.
Jouy-aux-Arches
The tank at Ars, horseshoe
shaped, is approx. 9,5 m long and 7 m wide. The walls
are 1 m thick. The pipe of Gorze appeared at the round
part of the tank. The pipe of
Sainte-Fontaine started a little further away. The centre of the tank was constructed
at a lower level for sedimentation purposes.
At the Jouy site you can also
find a tank, this one measures a diameter of 4 m with
a sedimentation part.
