<<<<This
aqueduct at Nerja, south of Spain is still in use! It consists
of 4 levels with a total of 38 arches.
The aqueduct to
the right was providing the lands of the abbey
of Saint-Polycarpe (Province Aude/France) with water.
The abbey is known since 780 aD.
A
rotating boat lift, the Falkirk Wheel connects
two canals (Forth
& Clyde canal + Union canal in England) with each other (difference
in hight is
35 m!). Formerly they were connected by 11 locks, but
when commercial canal use was abondoned in the first
half of the 20th century many canals became derelict,
were used as dumping rounds and many stretches were
filled in.
